Company Description

Messenger-Inquirer, the primary daily newspaper serving Daviess, Hancock, McLean, Muhlenberg and Ohio counties in Kentucky, publishes seven days a week.

The main office and production facility of the Messenger-Inquirer is located at 1401 Frederica Street in Owensboro.

The Messenger-Inquirer has a long tradition of excellence in community journalism. In the past four years, it received more than 100 awards in the Kentucky Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. In 2000 the Messenger-Inquirer was awarded first place for the General Excellence Award, tied with the Lexington Herald-Leader.

In previous four years, the Messenger-Inquirer finished second in the general excellence category for Kentucky’s largest dailies, behind only the Lexington Herald-Leader. In 1989, the Messenger-Inquirer was chosen by the University of Missouri School of Journalism as one of the nation’s top five small dailies. That same year, the American Society of Newspaper Editors named the Messenger-Inquirer one of the nation’s 14 best small dailies.
