Pedaling, peds show gains over last 20 years

June 28, 2010

I’ve written several times about the shift in policy by the U.S. Department of Transportation to give biking and walking a seat at the policy table when it comes to deciding how this country will craft its transportation policy.

That change has also come with a shift in funding, as shown in the graphic below that was put together by GOOD, a site that among other things offers neat graphical representations of data.

The data shows a marked increase in biking and walking trips, that have been followed by a substantial commitment in federal dollars to pedestrian and bicycling programs. It’s impressive to look at the uptick over the years.

Thanks to Fast Company for pointing out this graphic.
